How to cancel Preply

Cancel on the Preply website, not in the app: go to Settings, then Subscriptions, click the three dots next to the tutor and select Cancel Subscription. Do it at least a day before your billing date; on the day itself the charge still goes through. Lessons you have booked still happen; lessons you have not booked expire when the 28-day cycle ends. Cancelling is not a refund.

Cancelling on the website

On the Preply website (in any browser, on a computer or your phone)

Go to Settings on your dashboard.
Select Subscriptions from the list.
Click the three dots (···) next to the tutor whose subscription you want to cancel.
Select Cancel Subscription.
If Preply offers alternatives, select Proceed with cancellation.
Choose a reason and click Continue Cancellation.
On the final screen, click Cancel Subscription to confirm.

Each tutor is a separate subscription, so cancel each one you want to stop. If your renewal is less than 24 hours away, contact Preply's support instead: open a chat from the ? icon on Preply's home page, or in the app under Profile, Help, Customer support.

Before you cancel

A pause

Pausing delays your next renewal by up to 20 days, once per billing cycle, and you can still schedule and take lessons during the pause.

Fewer lessons, or another tutor

You can lower the number of lessons in each 28-day cycle, from the next cycle, or move the value of your remaining lessons to a different tutor.

After you cancel

No further automatic payments are taken for that tutor's plan; subscriptions with other tutors carry on.
Lessons you booked before cancelling are protected and take place as planned, and the cancellation asks you to schedule any remaining lessons before it completes.
Lessons you have not booked expire at the end of the current 28-day cycle and can't be recovered.
Preply emails a confirmation, and the tutor shows as Subscription cancelled under Settings, then Subscription.

Getting money back

Cancelling refunds nothing by itself. Preply may refund a charge if you cancel and have used no lessons from that billing cycle, when you ask within 28 days of the charge; each request is reviewed individually.
Ask in a chat from the ? icon on Preply's home page, or in the app under Profile, Help, Customer support; refunds can't be requested in your account settings.
An approved refund goes back to the payment method you used and can take up to 30 days to appear.

Questions people ask

Can I cancel Preply in the app?

No. Preply says cancellation is only available in a web browser: open preply.com on your phone or computer, log in, and go to Settings, then Subscriptions.

What happens to my Preply lessons if I cancel?

Lessons you have already booked go ahead. Lessons you have not booked expire at the end of the current 28-day cycle, so schedule them before you cancel; the cancellation prompts you to.
