Analytics

The site uses a self-hosted Plausible Analytics instance to count page views and six kinds of action: when a filtered table or the app picker shows results (answer_reached), when you use a filter (filter_used) or sort a table (sort_used), when you follow a link to an app (outbound_commercial; we record which app and where on the page the link was), when you open one of our sources (evidence_open), and when you download the CSV or JSON (data_export). Plausible sets no cookies and does not track people across sites.

Every page also loads Google Analytics 4, with its tag fetched from www.googletagmanager.com. Analytics and advertising storage are set to denied before the tag runs, so Google's tag sets no cookies and no consent banner is needed. In this setting Google describes what the tag sends as cookieless pings: one when a page loads and one for each of the actions above, carrying the page address, the referring page, your browser's user agent and the consent state. Your IP address reaches Google as part of each request; Google says Analytics does not store or log it. This is how Google's consent mode help (support.google.com/analytics/answer/9976101) describes it.

The filter choices (language and features) act on a table already in your browser. The choices are sent as properties of the filter_used event so the operator can see which languages and features people look for; the rows shown are not sent.

The finder on the home page writes your choices (language, goal, level and any budget, way of practising or daily time) into the page address so an answer can be shared, and showing an answer sends its language, goal and level as properties of the answer_reached event. Both services therefore receive those choices; nothing else you type is sent.

What is collected

Loading a page sends the normal request information needed to deliver it: the page requested, the referring page, your IP address and browser identifier. Plausible aggregates these into counts and does not store a per-visitor identifier beyond the day.

No account, name or payment detail is needed to use any part of this site. The contact form is the one place where something you type is sent to us: your message, your email address and any page or link you add go through Cloudflare, which runs an automatic security check that never asks you to solve anything. We keep each message in our contact inbox at Cloudflare for 12 months, then it is deleted automatically, and a copy goes to a private Discord channel the operator reads. We use your email address only to answer you, and writing to us, by the form or by email, is entirely your choice.

One thing is kept on your device: the price changes page remembers, in your browser's local storage, the day you last opened it and the changes it showed you, so it can mark what is new next time. It is never sent anywhere, and clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.

Outside services a page contacts

Fonts are served from this site's own domain. Pages request the analytics script from pa.upjourney.com, the operator's own Plausible server, and Google's tag from www.googletagmanager.com, which then sends its measurements to Google. Where an app has a verified Amazon listing, the page asks this site's own server for a short-lived list of product image addresses and, if one exists, loads that image from Amazon's image host. On the contact page, Cloudflare's security check also loads, to keep automated spam out of the form; no other third-party request is made by a page on its own.

A link to an app or to Amazon leaves this site and sends the destination the ordinary request data for opening a web page; that site's own privacy terms then apply. Amazon links carry this site's Associates tag, which tells Amazon the visit came from here. Where an app runs an affiliate programme, its link may carry a referral identifier once that programme is joined; we have joined none, so no link to an app carries one. Your data and how to reach us

Plausible holds no personal record that could be looked up for a single visitor, so there is nothing to export or delete on request; the server access logs are rotated within thirty days. Email sent to [email protected] is kept in the operator's mailbox for as long as it takes to act on it, and a message sent through the contact form is kept for 12 months; either is deleted on request, and we delete both copies of a form message.
