Is SuperChinese worth it?
Yes, if you want one Mandarin course to follow from pinyin to an intermediate level, in 10-minute lessons, with every line you say scored for pronunciation.
What it costs. A year costs $69.99 ($5.83 a month); month to month is $11.99; lifetime access is $149.99 once. Lifetime costs the same as 2.1 years of the yearly plan.
What's free. A selection of lessons from the main course and from Discover, free for good: enough to judge the teaching, not the whole course.
Skip it if you want to practise with a person, or to learn any language but Mandarin: SuperChinese teaches only Mandarin, and its conversation partner, on the dearer CHAO plan, is an AI.
What learners rate it. 4.9 out of 5 from 3,824 ratings in Apple's US App Store and 4.9 from 133,224 on Google Play, checked 16 Oct 2026.

How a SuperChinese lesson works
- What you do
- Learn the words and grammar one everyday situation needs, then shadow a dialogue or story and say each line aloud; the app scores your pronunciation and colours the characters you got wrong, and the unit ends with review and speaking practice.
- What comes back
- Automatic: exercises are marked, and speech recognition scores how you say words. No person checks your work.
- Not included
- A live teacher or stated CEFR levels.

Plans and prices
Every consumer plan on SuperChinese's own pricing page or app-store listing, in US dollars unless marked. Per month is the plan price divided by its term. Where the seller shows a crossed-out price beside the one it charges, the figure is the one it charges, and the plan's note gives the crossed-out price.

| What it is | Course app. An eight-level Mandarin course for iPhone and Android, from complete beginner to HSK 5, in 10-minute lessons written by native Chinese teachers. Each unit is built around one everyday situation: its words and grammar first, then a dialogue or story to shadow and say aloud, then review and speaking practice, with a pronunciation score coloured down to each character. An optional pinyin course comes before Level 1, and a free level test in the app places you. The CHAO plan adds role-plays with an AI tutor that tells you what sounded unnatural and why. |
