How to cancel WaniKani
WaniKani is sold only on its website, so you cancel there: open the Subscription page in your settings and use the button in the Manage Your Plan section (or Manage Payment Details). You keep the paid levels until the period you paid for ends; levels 1 to 3 stay free. WaniKani refunds any payment you ask about within 60 days, for any reason, on monthly, annual and lifetime plans: email [email protected] from your account's address.
Where did you subscribe?
On the WaniKani website (the only place it is sold)
- Sign in on wanikani.com and open the Subscription page in your settings.
- Click the button in the Manage Your Plan section (or the Manage Payment Details section).
- Choose to cancel: your subscription will not renew when the period runs out.
WaniKani emails you before the subscription ends, so you have time to change your mind. Removing your card from the Subscription page is not the same as cancelling: cancel the subscription as well. WaniKani has no iPhone or Android app of its own; the apps some learners use are made by other users.
Annual plans, lifetime and deleting your account
Moving from annual to monthly
You can't switch in the middle of an annual plan. Cancel it in advance, and once the year ends you can subscribe to the monthly plan.
Lifetime
Lifetime is a single payment, not a subscription, so there is nothing to cancel: it keeps the paid levels open for as long as WaniKani runs. The 60-day refund covers it too.
Deleting your account
You delete your account yourself, in your settings under Danger Zone, and confirm by email; WaniKani can't delete an account on request by email or phone, and a deleted account can't be brought back. Its pages don't say whether deleting the account stops a subscription, so cancel first.
After you cancel
- The paid levels stay open until the end of the period you paid for. Then they close, but your account stays: WaniKani keeps your data until you ask for the account to be deleted, and you can subscribe again at any time.
- Levels 1 to 3 stay free; level 4 and above need a paid plan.
Getting money back
- WaniKani refunds a payment for any reason if you ask within 60 days of it, on the monthly, annual and lifetime plans; a renewal you forgot to cancel counts too.
- Email [email protected] from the address your WaniKani account is under, as soon as you can.
