How to cancel Ling
Cancel Ling where you subscribed: on Ling Web under Profile, then Settings (Ling's FAQ says to email [email protected] instead), in your iPhone's Settings under Subscriptions, or in Google Play's subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before it renews; deleting the app or your account does not cancel it. You keep Premium to the end of the period you paid for, and your progress stays. Ling refunds web and Google Play purchases if you ask in time, but its pages give 30 days in one place and 7 in another, so ask at once.
Where did you subscribe?
On Ling Web (subscribed on the website)
- Log in to Ling Web.
- Go to Profile, then Settings.
- Cancel your subscription.
A subscription bought on the website can only be cancelled there. Ling's FAQ and pricing page say instead that web cancellations go by email to [email protected], from or naming the email address you signed up with, and its terms mention a customer portal that support gives you access to.
In your iPhone's or iPad's settings (subscribed in the iPhone app)
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Ling.
- Tap “Cancel Subscription”.
Ling can't cancel an App Store subscription for you. The Ling app's own subscription settings send you to the same page.
In Google Play (subscribed in the Android app)
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Play Store.
- Check that you are signed in to the right Google Account.
- Tap Menu, then Subscriptions.
- Select Ling and tap “Cancel Subscription”.
- Follow the instructions.
The free trial, lifetime and deleting your account
The 7-day free trial
Only the yearly plan comes with a 7-day free trial, unless a promotion says otherwise. It turns into a paid yearly plan unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
Lifetime
Lifetime is a one-time payment that does not renew, so there is nothing to cancel. Ling's FAQ includes it in the 30-day refund for web purchases. Its pricing page no longer offers it.
Deleting your account
In the app: Profile, the gear icon, then Delete Account at the bottom of Settings, and Yes. It can't be undone, all your progress is lost, and it does not cancel your subscription, so cancel first.
After you cancel
- You keep Premium until the end of the period you paid for, and you are not billed again.
- Your streak and progress stay, so you pick up where you left off if you subscribe again.
- Without Premium, the first two beginner units stay free, by Ling's FAQ and home page; its help centre promises at least the first unit and the first Dialog topic.
Getting money back
- Bought on Ling Web or Google Play: Ling's help centre gives a full refund if you ask within 30 days of the payment, by email to [email protected] with the email you subscribed with and the email of your Ling account. Its money-back guarantee page counts the 30 days from your first purchase, and its FAQ limits the web refund to yearly and lifetime plans.
- Ling's pricing page gives a different window: a full refund within 7 days of purchase, for Google Play and website payments. Ask as early as you can.
- Its FAQ also says Google, not Ling, decides refunds for Google Play purchases, where its help centre says Ling refunds them.
- Bought in the App Store: Ling can't refund it; ask Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com or through the receipt Apple emailed you.
Questions people ask
How do I cancel my Ling subscription?
Where you subscribed: on Ling Web under Profile, then Settings (or by email to [email protected], as Ling's FAQ says), in your iPhone's Settings under Subscriptions, or in Google Play's subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before it renews.
Can I get a refund from Ling?
For web and Google Play purchases Ling promises a full refund, but its pages disagree on the window: 30 days in its help centre and money-back guarantee, 7 days on its pricing page. Email [email protected] at once. App Store purchases go to Apple.
Do I lose my progress if I cancel Ling?
No: your streak and progress stay, and you keep Premium until the paid period ends. Deleting your account, though, erases your progress for good.
